Copying a Configuration File from the rcp Server to the Device
To copy a configuration file from an rcp server to the running configuration or startup configuration, complete
the following tasks:
SUMMARY STEPS
1. enable
2. configure terminal
3. ip rcmd remote-username username
4. end
5. Do one of the following:
• copy rcp:[[[//[username@]location]/directory]/filename]system:running-config
• copy rcp:[[[//[username@]location]/directory]/filename]nvram:startup-config
DETAILED STEPS
PurposeCommand or Action
Enables privileged EXEC mode.enable
Step 1
Example:
• Enter your password if prompted.
Device> enable
(Optional) Enters configuration mode from the terminal.
This step is required only if you override the default remote
username (see Step 3).
configure terminal
Example:
Device# configure terminal
Step 2
(Optional) Specifies the remote username.ip rcmd remote-username username
Example:
Step 3
Device(config)# ip rcmd remote-username NetAdmin1
(Optional) Exits global configuration mode. This step is
required only if you override the default remote username
(see Step 2).

Example:
Device(config)# end
Step 4
Copies the configuration file from an rcp server to the
running configuration or startup configuration.
Do one of the following:
Step 5
• copy
rcp:[[[//[username@]location]/directory]/filename]system:running-config
• copy
rcp:[[[//[username@]location]/directory]/filename]nvram:startup-config
