Installing and Removing a Fan Module
You can hot swap a fan module (UCSX-9508-FAN) without causing an electrical hazard or damage to the
system. However, you can only remove one fan module while the system is operating. Removing more than
one fan module could cause overheating.
Installing a Fan Module
Step 1 Hold the fan module with the handle at the bottom and place your other hand underneath the fan module to support it.
Step 2 Align the fan with the fan bay in the rear of the chassis.

Step 3 Slide the fan into the chassis until it is flush with the face of the chassis.
Make sure that the latch on the handle is engaged with the chassis.
Note
When the fan module is almost completely installed, you might feel some resistance. The resistance is normal, and it
occurs when the connector at the rear of the fan contacts the corresponding socket inside the chassis.
