Adding
Devices
Your
mass storage system may come with devices pre-installed, or you may
install them
at
a later time as upgrade
kits.
The following instructions should
be followed when adding a
new
device.

Caution

After
a SCSI
device
is
installed
in
the
mass
storage
system,
the
mass
storage
system
must
be
carefully
reassembled
to
ensure
compliance
with
RFI
emission
requirements,
and
to
provide
adequate
protection
against
electrical
shock
and
fire
hazards.
The mass storage system has been designed for optimum
performance when using the mass storage devices from
Hewlett-Packard.
To
ensure
that
the
mass storage system meets
its published performance, regulatory, and safety specifications,
we recommend you use only Hewlett-Packard accessory mass
storage devices.
Preparing
to
Install
a SCSI
Device
1.
Shut down (halt) the host computer.
2.
Turn off power to both
the
host computer and the mass storage system.
3. Disconnect the power cord from the mass storage system.
4. Disconnect the
SCSI
cable from the mass storage system.
5.
If
necessary, remove the mass storage system from its rack or cabinet (see
Figure 1-8).
