Solving audio, multimedia, and modem problems 121
You don’t hear sound in Windows 95. 1. Check your computer’s volume controls. See “Controlling volume” on
page 15 for information about setting volume.
2. Make sure your speakers are connected properly. If your speakers have a
power light, make sure the light is lit. For instructions on connecting your
speakers, refer to the Read me first book.
3. Make sure the program you are using is designed for use in Windows 95. If
the program is designed to run in DOS, it does not use Windows 95 sound
features and must be configured to use SoundBlaster Pro or SoundBlaster
emulation.
4. Use Advanced Diagnostics to test your audio configuration. To run
diagnostics for your sound (audio) card, follow these steps:
a. Insert the Diagnostics and Utilities CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
b. Close all your programs and shut down the computer.
c. Wait 15 seconds and then turn the computer back on.
d. From the Advanced Diagnostics and Utilities menu, run advanced
diagnostics.
e. Following the instructions in the menus, run Diagnostics.
f. Select Module Tests and then User Diags.
g. Run the test for the Crystal sound and game card.
