IDE drive access
This option lets you enable or disable access to the IDE
drives attached to the system board.
Diskette drive access
This option lets you enable or disable access to the
diskette drive(s) attached to the system board.
Operate without keyboard
This option lets you operate your computer with the
keyboard unplugged. You can enable this option when
you want to restrict access to your computer. For
example, you might want the computer to be used only
for viewing an ongoing demonstration or some other
system activity.
With this option enabled, you also avoid a POST error
when the keyboard is disconnected.
Operate without diskette drive(s)
This option lets you operate your computer with the
diskette drive unplugged. You can enable this option
when you want to restrict access to your computer. For
example, you might not want others to boot your
computer from diskette or to copy files from the hard
drive.
With this option enabled, you also avoid a POST error
when the diskette drive is disconnected.
Cache options
The Cache Options menu shows how much cache
memory is installed on your computer and lets you
enable or disable it.
Cache size
This option identifies how much cache memory is
installed on your computer. You can install a maximum
of 512 KB cache memory.
Cache memory is special buffer storage that holds
frequently used instructions and data. It works faster
than system memory.
Cache state
This option lets you specify whether your computer
uses its cache memory. With cache memory enabled,
your programs run faster. If you run programs that
require slower speeds, such as older game programs,
you can disable cache memory to slow down your
computer.
Enable the Cache State option to change the following
option:
