2. Carefully wipe away any bearing grease.
3. Listen for excessive bearing operating noise.
Excessive bearing operating noise indicates severe
bearing wear.
Reassembly
1. Install the ball bearing to the water pump shaft.
1. Apply engine oil to the water pump shaft.
2. Place the water pump shaft and the bearings on
the base plates.
3. Install the washer (4), ball bearing (3), spacer (2),
and bearings (1).
4. Use a bench press to gradually press the water
pump shaft down until the bearings are seated
correctly.
2. Install the water pump shaft with bearings to the
water pump body.
1. Repack the bearings with multipurpose grease.
2. Place the water pump body on bench press base
plate.
NOTE : To prevent damage to the water pump shaft,
place soft brass or copper sheets between the base
plates and the water pump shaft.
