12.26 Installing the main silencer

Mount the main silencer with rubber sleeve 2.
Mount and tighten screws 1.
Guideline
Remaining screws, chassis M8 25 Nm
(18.4 lbf ft)
12.27 Changing the glass fiber yarn filling of the main silencer x
Warning
Danger of burnsThe exhaust system gets very hot when the vehicle is driven.
Allow the exhaust system to cool down. Do not touch hot components.
Info
Over a period, the fibers of the glass fiber yarn vanish into the air, and the silencer "burns out".
Not only is the noise level higher, the performance characteristic changes.
Preparatory work
Remove the main silencer. ( p. 47)

Main work
Remove screws 1. Pull out connecting cap 2.
Pull glass fiber yarn filling 3 from the connecting cap.
Clean the parts that are to be reinstalled.
Mount the new glass fiber yarn filling 3 on the connecting cap.
Slide main silencer sleeve 4 over the connecting cap with the new glass fiber yarn
filling.
Mount and tighten all screws 1.
Finishing work
Install the main silencer. ( p. 48)
12.28 Removing the fuel tank x
Danger
Fire hazardFuel is highly flammable.
Never refuel the vehicle near open flames or burning cigarettes, and always switch off the engine first. Be careful that no
fuel is spilt, especially on hot vehicle components. Clean up spilt fuel immediately.
The fuel in the fuel tank expands when warm and may emerge if overfilled. Follow the instructions on refueling.
