14.1 Removing the front wheel
Preparatory work
– Deactivate the vehicle. ( p. 37)
– Fold the seat up. ( p. 63)
– Remove the KTM PowerPack. ( p. 96)
– Mount the covering cap. ( p. 64)
– Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand. ( p. 49)

Main work

Loosen screw
by several rotations.

Release screws

Press on screw
to push the wheel spindle out of the axle clamp.

Remove screw

– Holding the front wheel, withdraw the wheel spindle. Take the front wheel out of
the fork.
Info
Do not operate the front brake lever when the front wheel is removed.
Always lay the wheel down in such a way that the brake disc is not dam-
aged.

14.2 Installing the front wheel
Warning
Danger of accidents Reduced braking efficiency due to oil or grease on the brake discs.
– Always keep the brake discs free of oil and grease, and clean them with brake cleaner when necessary.

Main work
– Check the wheel bearing for damage and wear.
» If the wheel bearing is damaged or worn:
– Change the front wheel bearing.

Clean and grease the shaft seal rings
and contact surface
of the spacers.
Long-life grease ( p. 122)
– Insert the spacers.
