Chapter 2 Power Component Definition and Maintenance
Cooling Fans The production date of your PowerFlex B frame drive will determine what fan
configuration you have:
• Before August 2020: Continental/Daltec fan
• After August 2020: Ziehl-Abegg fan
PowerFlex 7000 B frame drives shipped before August 2020 have a
Continental/Daltec cooling fan installed above the DC link.
PowerFlex 7000 B frame drives shipped before August 2020 have inlet rings
that are mounted on cabinet barriers. Clearance needs to be maintained
between the rotating impeller and the stationery inlet ring.
• Continental: 450 mm and 630 mm diameter impeller and motor
assembly with separate inlet ring.
• Daltec: 560 mm diameter impeller and motor assembly with separate
inlet ring
PowerFlex 7000 B frame drives shipped after August 2020 have inlet rings
included with the complete fan motor assembly. Clearance between the
rotating impeller and the stationery inlet ring is not subject to cabinet
assembly variations.
• Ziehl-Abegg: 450 mm and 560 mm diameter impellers with integrated
motor and inlet ring.
An air exhaust hood is mounted on top of the cabinet. Correct mounting of the
exhaust hood prevents ingress of foreign objects. For redundant fans, the
exhaust hood is enlarged.
Replacing Ziehl-Abegg Fans
There are two types of Ziehl-Abegg fans, GR45 and GR56. Figure 103 and
Figure 104
show the location of each type of fan, with and without a redundant
fan.
