Other options for connecting redundant I/Os
Redundant I/O at user level
If you cannot use the redundant I/O supported by the system (Chapter Connection of two-
channel I/O to the PROFIBUS DP interface (Page 80)), for example, because the module to
be used redundantly is not in the list of supported components, you can also implement the
use of redundant I/O at the user level.
Configurations
The following redundant I/O configurations are supported:
1. Redundant configuration with one-sided central and/or distributed I/O.
For this purpose, one signal module each is inserted into the CPU 0 and CPU 1
subsystems.
2. Redundant configuration with switched I/O
One signal module each is inserted into two ET 200M distributed I/O devices with active
backplane bus.
