the cables.
2.5 Repair of CAN bus lines

Observe the general instructions for the repair on the vehicle

Observe the general instructions for the wiring loom and
plug repair ⇒ i2.2 nstructions for wiring harness and plug
repair ”, page 42 .

Both CAN bus lines must have the same length when under‐
taking repair work.
♦
The repair of single wires is not permitted.
♦
The repair of CAN bus lines must be carried out with a
suitable cross-section.
♦
Gather the assignment from the ⇒ Electronic Catalogue of
Original Parts “ETKA”.
♦
The repair must not result in excess lengths.
♦
Provide the repair area with yellow adhesive tape to indicate
a previous repair.
An unshielded two-wire cable -1- and -2- with a cross-section of
0.35 mm

or 0.5 mm
2
is used as a CAN bus line.
♦ Both CAN bus lines must have the same length when under‐
taking repair work. The stroke length of -A- = 20 mm must be
respected when the cables -1- and -2- are twisted.
♦ Thus, there must be no cable piece (in the area of the crimp
connectors -arrow-) longer than -B- = 50 mm without twisting
the cables.
♦ The cable tails must be crimped with connectors in the same
way.
