♦ if the mechatronics for dual clutch transmissions -J743- or
their control unit has been replaced
♦ after a transmission repair has taken place
When performing the complete basic setting, an adjustment of
the clutch, clutch plate and gear plate takes place. This setting
optimises the quality of the driving behaviour and the circuit.

3.3 General repair instructions
A number of general notes on the individual repair procedures,
which are valid for this particular workshop manual, are sum‐
marised here.
To ensure flawless and successful gearbox repairs, the greatest
care and cleanliness as well as the use of good and proper
tools are essential.
Also note the basic rules on safety when performing repair pro‐
cedures.
Special tools
For a complete list of special tools used in this workshop man‐

Gearbox
♦ Make sure no dirt gets into the gearbox when the gearbox
is open. This applies in particular when removing and if the
dual clutch gearbox mechatronics -J743- has been removed,
because any direct can cause the gearbox to fail.
♦ Thoroughly clean the connection points and their surround‐
ings and then release.
♦ When installing the gearbox, ensure the dowel sleeves are
correctly located between the engine and gearbox.
The gearbox features an opening -arrow-, which is closed using
a cover.
• When installing pay attention that nothing falls into this open‐
ing -arrow-.
