Crankshaft assembly
Front sealing ring,
replacement (14A-02)
Special tools: 885031, 885032, 885033, 885037

Disconnect the battery

Remove the screw from the adjustment hole on the
top of the front end of the camshaft cover (12A.03/
A4). Turn the crankshaft until the adjustment hole in
the front of the camshaft front bearing journal corre-
sponds with the hole in the cover.

Install the adjustment drifts 885037 on the camshaft
and flywheel. Remove the starter motor, operation
22B-01.

Remove the generator (GEN) drive belt, operation
22A-03 and the pulley for the water pump.

Remove the crankshaft pulley, operation 14A-01A
or 14A-01B and remove the cap for the transmis-
sion cover, operation 15A-01.

Install two screws (M6 x 50) to secure the pulley to
the injection pump and remove the timing belt, oper-
ation 15A-04.

Remove the drive pulley from the crankshaft, opera-
tion 15A-07.

Remove the front key from the crankshaft.

Install the adapter (A1) from the tool 885031 at the
front end of the crankshaft. Slacken off the center
screw so that it does not reach the adapter and in-
sert the main tool in the sealing ring. Turn the tool
clockwise to ensure that it is secure in the sealing
ring and tighten the center screw against the adapt-
er to remove the sealing ring (B). Remove the
adapter.

Check that the position for the sealing ring and the
crankshaft is clean and undamaged.
