NIBP Characterization
The Welch Allyn Monitor Service Utility facilitates this characterization procedure. See
page 40 for more information.
All repairs to a monitor under warranty must be performed at an authorized
Welch Allyn service center.
Activity Recommended Action
Update the software Return the monitor to an authorized service center.
Replace the main board Return the monitor to an authorized service center.
Replace the NIBP module. Replacement procedure beginning on page 43.
Perform a complete functional verification (page 17).

Warning Whenever any component of the NIBP assembly (pump, air filter,
check valve, tubing, or NIBP board) is replaced, the NIBP module must be
characterized before the monitor is returned to service.
If the NIBP module is not properly characterized, the NIBP cuff could
overinflate, which could be hazardous to neonatal patients.
