Chain clearance check (04_29)
To check the slack:
•
Stop the engine.
•
Place the vehicle on the stand.
•
Engage neutral gear.
•
Check that vertical oscillation at
the middle point between pinion
and crown on the lower part of
the chain is of about 0.99 ÷ 1.38
in (25 ÷ 35 mm).
•
Move the vehicle forward so as
to check vertical oscillation in
other positions too. The clear-
ance should remain constant
during all wheel rotation phases.
IMPORTANT
IF A HIGHER CLEARANCE IS FOUND
IN PLACES, THIS MEANS THAT SOME
OF THE CHAIN MAILS ARE SQUASH-
ED OR SEIZED.
TO AVOID THE RISK OF SEIZURE, LU-
BRICATE THE CHAIN ON A REGULAR
BASIS.

Pour contrôler le jeu :
•
Arrêter le moteur.
•
Positionner le véhicule sur la bé-
quille.
•
Positionner le levier de la boîte
de vitesses au point mort.
•
Contrôler que l'oscillation verti-
cale, en un point intermédiaire
entre le pignon et la couronne
dans le maillon inférieur de la
chaîne, est d'environ 0,99 - 1,38
in (25 - 35 mm).
•
Déplacer le véhicule en avant,
de façon à contrôler aussi l'os-
cillation verticale de la chaîne
dans d'autres positions ; Le jeu
doit rester constant dans toutes
les phases de rotation de la
roue.
ATTENTION
S'IL EXISTE UN JEU SUPÉRIEUR
DANS CERTAINES POSITIONS, IL Y A
DES MAILLONS ÉCRASÉS OU GRIP-
PÉS.
