ESS failover examples
Issue 1.1 June 2005 55
Example 9: LSPs working in an ESS environment
In example 9 (Figure 22), there is an S8300 LSP residing in a G350 Media Gateway. In a
normal operation the S8700 Main server communicates with the G350 through a CLAN board in
Port Network 1.
There are two ESS servers administered. The S8700 ESS server has the highest priority and is
the first ESS the IPSI’s request service from if they can no longer communicate with the Main
server. If the IPSI can no longer communicate with either the Main server or the S8700 ESS
server, they will request service from the S8500 ESS server.
In the event of a failure, the goal of this configuration is to have all Port Networks and gateways
under the control of one ESS server.
