1b. Remove the spark plug(s) with the appropri-
ate spark plug socket. See Figure 9.2.
1a. Clean the Spark plug(s) with carburetor
cleaner or replace them with the spark
plug(s) suggested by the engine manufac-
turer.
NOTE: Do not clean the spark plug(s) mechani-
cally (sand blasting or scraping). This will dam-
age the insulator.
1b. Gap the electrodes to .030” (.76mm).
1c. Thread the spark plug(s) into the spark plug
hole(s).
1d. Tighten the spark plug(s) to a torque speci-
fied by the engine manufacturer.
NOTE: Refer to engine manufacturer’s service
manual for more detailed instructions.
1e. Push the spark plug wire(s) onto the spark
plug(s) until they snap into place.
Air filter and foam pre cleaner
A dirty air filter and/or foam pre cleaner can reduce
engine power, increase fuel consumption and make
starting more difficult.
The foam pre cleaner should be checked before each
use and cleaned every 25 hours.
The air filter should be cleaned before each use and
replaced every two months or 50 hours of use.
Refer the engine manufacturer’s service manual for the
proper procedure access the air filter.
To clean a pre cleaner:
1. Remove the pre cleaner following the steps
described by the engine manufacturer.
2. The foam pre clean should be cleaned by:
2a. Wash the filter in warm soapy water.
2b. Rinse it and let it air dry.
IMPORTANT: Always replace a damaged filter.
NOTE: Do not oil the pre cleaner before placing
it on the air filter. The oil can wick into the air fil-
ter, reducing the air flow through the air filter.
Oil change
The oil change interval is every 100 hrs.
NOTE: The first oil change should be preformed
at 5 hours.
To change the oil:
1. Remove the cap from the oil drain.
See Figure 9.3.
