EXTERNAL ALARMS CONNECTIONS
Wiring for external alarms is brought into the cabinet through one of the
cable glands in the rear panel. The motherboard contains a relay providing
a non-inductive switching facility. The relay contacts are brought out to
pins 1, 2 & 3 of a 6way connector, PL5, on the motherboard, as shown in
the diagram. Pin 1 is the common connection, pins 2 and 3 are the
changeover connections. The connection between pins 1 and 3 is closed
when the Macrojet2 is running normally (see
page 2-22).
ADDING A PRINT HEAD
Fitting a new print head requires:
• fitting the new print head (supplied with its conduit as a complete
assembly)
• fitting a second Solenoid Driver PCB (if necessary)
• fitting a new intensity control
• setting up the aspect ratio switches
Print heads are driven by the Solenoid Driver PCB. One PCB drives one
16-nozzle head or two 7-nozzle heads. The printer may therefore need an
additional Solenoid Driver PCB to drive the new print head.
The printer must be disconnected from the power and the top cover
removed.
(1) Depressurise the ink system - see page 4-16.
(2) Remove the blanking plug from a conduit entry hole in the rear panel.
(3) Remove the blanking plug in the corresponding ink pipe hole in the
bulkhead plate. Fit a grommet into the hole.
(4) Check that the fixing nut and washer for the conduit connector are
available (remove them from the conduit if already fitted)
(5) The electrical connections for the head terminate in a 37-way "D"
connector. Ensure that the plastic cover is fitted to protect the
connector from damage.
(6) Fit the connector and ink feed pipe from the conduit into the rear
panel until they just pass through the conduit entry hole.
(7) Slide the conduit retaining washer and nut over the connector and ink
pipe (inside the cabinet).
