2. The first hop device responds with an ICMP TTL-expired message to the source. In this way, the
source device gets the address of the first device.
3. The source device sends a packet with a TTL value of 2 to the destination device.
4. The second hop responds with an ICMP TTL-expired message. In this way, the source device gets
the address of the second device.
5. The destination device responds with an ICMP port-unreachable message because the packet from
the source has an unreachable port number. In this way, the source device gets the address of the
destination device.
In this way, the source device can get the addresses of all Layer 3 devices on the path.
Ping operation
The Web interface does not support IPv6 ping.
To perform a ping operation:
1. From the navigation tree, select Network > Diagnostic Tools.
The ping configuration page appears.

2. Enter the IP address of the destination device in the Destination IP address or host name field.
3. Click Start.
4. View the output in the Summary area.
