TROUBLESHOOTING

If your transceiver seems to be malfunctioning, please check the following points before sending it to a service center.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION REF.
Transceiver will not power
ON.
The batteries are exhausted.
Loose connection of a battery pack (case).
The battery polarity is reversed.
• Replace the batteries or charge the battery pack.
• Clean battery terminals.
• Check the battery polarity.

No sound comes from the
speaker.
Volume level is too low.
External speaker is connected or cloning
cable is inserted.
• Push [] or [] to suitable level.
Check the external speaker connection or remove the
cloning cable.

Transmitting is impossible. The batteries are exhausted.
A frequency outside of the 144/430 MHz
amateur bands is set.
• Replace the batteries or charge the battery pack.
Reset the frequency within 144/430 MHz amateur
bands.

No contact possible with
another station.
Different tone is selected with tone/DTCS
squelch.

Remove and reattach the battery pack or battery
case.

Cannot charge the battery
with BC-139 (LED blinks

The transceiver's power is ON.
The battery pack is fault electric discharge.
Turn the transceiver’s power OFF, or insert only the
battery pack into the BC-139 to charge it.
The battery pack is charged alone (without the trans-
ceiver) or regular charge is carried out.
