Model 2100 6 1/2-Digit Resolution Digital Multimeter User’s Manual Section 4: Front Panel Operations
Default
The factory default for continuity threshold resistance is 10 . Your settings are stored in volatile
memory, and the default value will be restored after the meter has been turned-off.
How to set the threshold resistance
Threshold resistance can only be changed through the front panel:
1. Press the CONFIG key and then the CONT key.
2. Use the PREV and NEXT keys to move through the digits, and the up and down arrow
keys to lower or increase the number to your desired value.
3. Press ENTER to set the value. The locations of these keys are shown in Figure 4-5.

Range (manual and auto)
Definition
The Model 2100 multimeter can automatically select measurement ranges for you (except for
CONT and DIODE); however, selecting the appropriate ranges manually can achieve a faster
settling time.
If the input signal is beyond allowed range, an OVLD message will be shown on the display. The
threshold of maximum readings for each range is 120% and the minimum is 10%.
Default
The default range setting for the Model 2100 is auto-range. The user-selected range is stored in
volatile memory and the default will be restored when the meter is turned off (refer to
Table 2-2 for
the factory default range).
How to set the auto / manual range
You can set the auto / manual range either through the front panel or through a remote interface.
To set the auto/manual range from the front panel:
First choose a measurement function on the front panel, then press the AUTO key to select the
auto-range feature, or use up and down arrow keys to manually select a range. If the selected
range is not shown on the bottom of the display, press the round PREV or NEXT keys (on the left
side of the front panel) until the range information appears. The location of these keys shown in
Figure 4-6.
