ENGINE SERVICE
STARTER MOTOR REMOVAL
1. Remove driver’s seat and disconnect the battery.
2. Remove drive and driven clutches (see Drive Clutch
Removal page 6.7 and Driven Clutch Removal page
6.31 in the PVT System chapter).
3. Remove six fasteners

and remove the inner PVT
cover baffle.
4. Support the bottom side of the engine with wood
blocks or from the top side with an engine lift.
5. Remove the three allen screws

and washers

retaining inner cover to engine.
6. Remove fasteners

and washers

retaining inner
cover to transmission.
7. Discard PVT inner cover o-ring around the crankshaft
snout.
8. From the RH wheel well using an 8mm flex socket,
remove the negative battery cable nut
u
, positive
cable nut
y
and the two fasteners
i
securing the
starter motor to the engine.
NOTICE
The (-) negative battery cable is mounted to the engine
using the upper starter mounting bolt / stud.
9. Remove the starter from the engine.
NOTICE
Tilt the engine slightly forward to gain enough clearance
to remove the starter.
