Chapter 4 51
Adjusting Settings
Adjusting the Black Level
The black level feature adjusts the reference level of black in a video
signal.
1. Press the SETUP/ENTER button on the remote.
2. Use the up and down arrows to point to DVD Setup and press the
right arrow to select it.
Note: In DVD-controlling mode, the DVD Setup Menu can only be
accessed when no disc is playing. To make sure the disc is not playing,
press the remote control’s DVD button, and then the STOP button.
3. Use the up and down arrows to point to Black Level and press the
right arrow to select one of the following options:
• High—Standard NTSC reference black level for consistent
brightness and contrast across all sources.
• Low—Enhanced black level for increased brightness and contrast
when viewing DVDs.
Changing the Default Pause Image
You can freeze, or pause, a single image on the screen during DVD
playback. Because each frame of a standard NTSC video image is made
up of two fields (odd and even scan lines), there are two ways to freeze
an image during DVD playback. To set these methods:
3. Use the up and down arrows to point to Still Mode and press the
right arrow to select one of the following options:
• Auto—Automatically selects the way the pause takes place by
detecting a motion in the scene.
• Frame—Pauses the scene and allows you to see fine text more
clearly than in Auto mode.
• Field—Pauses the scene without shaking.
