FA ROTEX GW - 09/2012
4 x Installation
4.2.2 Operation partially independent of ambient air
Set-up version 8
The ROTEX GW is operated with separately routed inlet air/ flue
gas lines (2 line system).
– Combustion air inlet is routed from the outside via the ade-
quately sealed inlet air through the external wall. The air inlet
line should be sized so that the suction resistance at nomi-
nal power is less than 50 Pa.
– Flue gas dissipation to the outdoors is via the chimney or an
installation shaft. If the connection line between the ROTEX
GW and the installation shaft is single-walled or is not com-
pletely surrounded by combustion air, a ventilation opening
to the outside of at least 150 cm
2
is required.
– Appropriate measures must be taken to ensure that the
burner cannot be operated if the ventilation opening is closed.
– The installation shaft where the flue gas line runs must be rear
ventilated. In the lower area there must be a rear ventilation
opening of at least 150 cm
2
must be provided.
– The cross-section of the installation shaft must be sized so
that between the external wall of the flue gas line and the
internal face of the installation shaft the following mini-
mum distance must be maintained:
– with a rectangular shaft cross-section: 2cm
– with round shaft cross-section: 3cm.
The rear ventilation opening must not be in rooms where a
positive pressure is generated (e.g. by controlled apartment
ventilation, a tumble-drier etc.).
4.2.3 Ambient air dependent operation
Set-up version 9
The ROTEX GW can also be connected in a manner dependent
on ambient air. Thereby, only the inner flue gas pipe (plastic pipe
Ø 60 mm) of the concentric air-flue gas pipe is connected to the
flue gas line. The device sucks the combustible air from the
installation room through the ring-shaped gap of the jacket pipe.
For the flue gas routing to the outdoors, the shaft sizing and the
rear ventilation, the same conditions apply as in chapter 4.2.2.
A ventilation opening to the outside of 150 cm
2
is imperative.
Set-up version 10
Multiple applications: as per set-up variant 6, however, the
combustion air supply comes from the room where it is installed.
All the parts of the connecting line that are at positive pressure
must be fully enclosed and flushed by combustion air.
The same conditions as per chapter 4.2.2 apply for shaft dimen-
sioning and back ventilation. A ventilation opening to the
outside of 150 cm
2
is imperative in all rooms where the unit is
installed.
4.3 Transport and delivery
The ROTEX GW is delivered in a cardboard box with expanded
polystyrene insulation.
Ɣ The ROTEX GW must always be moved in its original delivery
packaging.
Scope of delivery
– ROTEX GW (preassembled),
– Wall-mounting kit (mounting template, wall hooks and plugs)
– Gas diaphragm for liquid petroleum gas:
– Gas diaphragm for natural gas L/LL
– Flue gas test adapter (LAS)
– Installation and operating instructions, operating handbook
and installation and training form.
4.4 Wall mounting ROTEX GW
4.4.1 Selecting the installation location
The place of installation for the ROTEX GW must meet the
following minimum requirements.
Mounting area
–Wall:
– Solid flat surface.
– Minimum carrying capacity >46 kg.
– Fire-resistant.
– Spray water protected.
– Installation dimensions and minimum distances are main-
tained (see chapter 4.1).
Installation location
In addition to the requirements in chapter 2.5.3, the following
listed requirements must be maintained:
– Year-round frost free ambient air temperatures,
– Mounting on an external wall is only permitted in an ade-
quately ventilated and weather-protected cabinet (see also
fig. 4-5).
– There are no special conditions for ventilation of the installa-
tion room for operation independent of the ambient air (using
a concentric air/flue system).
– When operating partially independent from ambient air and
with ambient air dependent operation, the installation room
must have a ventilation opening of at least 150 cm
2
to the
outside. If the flue gas line goes via an installation shaft to the
outside, it must be rear ventilated (see chapter 4.2.2).
– For partial ambient air-independent and for ambient air-
dependent mode, the installation room must be free from
aggressive vapours (e.g. hair spray, perchloroethylene, car-
bon tetrachloride), heavy dust formation and high atmos-
pheric humidity (e.g. washhouse).
– Mounting above electrical equipment without adequate
spray connection is not permitted.
Surface temperatures, minimum distance
– When operating independently of the ambient air with nomi-
nal output, the design does not allow temperatures > 80°C on
any component outside the unit panels. Therefore, no mini-
mum distance is required between the flue gas line and com-
ponents made with flammable materials.
– A minimum distance of 50 mm between the flue gas duct and
flammable components should be maintained in a partial
ambient air-independent and ambient air-dependent mode.
– Do not store or use easily inflammable and easily combustible
substances directly next to the ROTEX GW.
– The minimum distances to be maintained for installation and
maintenance purposes to walls, ceilings and under the
ROTEX GW are shown in fig. 4-1. The associated dimen-
sions are shown in tab. 4-1.
