FA ROTEX GW - 09/2012
3 x Product description
3.2 Brief description
The ROTEX GW is a complete pre-assembled gas condensing
combination boiler.
The compact wall-mounted delivers heating and hot water
convenience with smallest space requirement. The ROTEX GW
is designed for operation with natural gas and liquid petroleum
gas. The most modern burner and control technology delivers
optimum energy efficiency with minimum toxic emissions. The
modulating operation mode always keeps the burner output
matched to the current demand. The flue gas temperature now
always remains below 74 °C.
Operating mode
The ROTEX GW is designed to be operated independently of the
room air. The burner suctions the combustion air directly in
through an installation shaft or a double-walled flue gas pipe. This
operating mode has several advantages:
The heating room does not need any ventilation opening into
the open air and therefore does not cool down.
Lower energy consumption.
Additional energy recovery in the flue gas pipe through pre-
heating the combustion air.
Additional energy exploitation by the positioning and flow
through the heat exchanger.
Contamination from the environment of the burner are not
suctioned in. The heating room can thus be used as a
work-space, laundry room etc. at the same time.
Possible to install as central roof unit and in garages.
The domestic water is heated as a continuous flow in a corrosion-
resistant stainless steel plate heat exchanger.
The condensate produced when the flue gases are cooled down
in the boiler heat exchanger and in the flue pipe are collected
separately and drained via an integrated condensate siphon to
the sewerage system.
Safety management
The safety management of the ROTEX GW is handled entirely by
the electronic controller. This effects a safety switch-off in the
event of water shortage, gas shortage, temperatures exceeding
the permitted limit or undefined operating states. A corre-
sponding fault signal provides an engineer with all the necessary
information for troubleshooting.
The unit is fitted with an electronic anti-freeze system and anti-
blocking functions for the heating circulation pump and the three-
way diverter valve. In order to make sure that this protection
function is effective, the power and gas supply must always be
ensured and the unit must never be switched off completely.
Electronic control
An electronic digital controller, in combination with the functions
of the automatic firing unit for burner control, controls the direct
heating circuit fully automatically and conveniently covers the hot
water demand.
The stepless, modulating control flexibly adapts the heating
output to changing requirements. All settings, displays and
functions are carried out using the integrated operating panel.
The display and keyboard make it easy and clear to use.
A digital room station GW-QAA73 ( 15 00 41) to increase
convenience is available as an option.
Condensing technology
The calorific value engineering makes optimum use of the energy
contained in the heating gas. The flue gas is cooled down in the
boiler and in an operating mode, independent from the ambient
air to a temperature below the dew point. A part of the water
vapour generated on combustion of the gas thus condenses. The
condensation heat is fed to the heating, as against the low
temperature boilers. This makes an efficiency of over 100 %
possible.
