SAFETY GUIDELINES
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR DUAL-BEVEL SLIDING MITRE SAW
• USE ONLY CROSSCUTTING SAW BLADES. When using carbide-tipped blades,
make sure they have a negative hook angle. Do not use blades with deep gullets,
because they can deflect and contact the guard.
• DO NOT operate the mitre saw until it is completely assembled and installed
according to these instructions.
• IF YOU ARE NOT thoroughly familiar with the operation of mitre saws, call the toll-
free helpline (1-800-689-9928) for further assistance.
• ALWAYS hold the work firmly against the fence and table. DO NOT perform any
operation free hand.
• KEEP HANDS out of the path of the saw blade. If the workpiece you are cutting
would cause your hands to be within 8 3/4” (22 cm) of the saw blade, the
workpiece should be clamped in place before making the cut.
• BE SURE the blade is sharp, runs freely, and is free of vibration.
• ALLOW the motor to come up to full speed before starting cut.
• KEEP THE MOTOR AIR SLOTS CLEAN and free of chips or dust.
• ALWAYS MAKE SURE all handles are tight before cutting, even if the table is
positioned in one of the positive stops.
• BE SURE blade and collar are clean. Tighten arbour screw and clamps before
sawing.
• USE only blade collars specified for your saw.
• NEVER use blades larger or smaller in diameter than 12” (30.5 cm).
• NEVER apply lubricants to the blade when it is running.
• ALWAYS check the blade for cracks or damage before operation. Replace a cracked
or damaged blade immediately.
• NEVER use blades recommended for operation at less than 3200 RPM.
• USE the blade guards at all times.
• Do not operate saw without guards in place.
• NEVER reach around the saw blade.
• Wear respiratory and hearing protection.
• Keep hands out of path of saw blade.
• Secure tool properly to prevent unexpected movement.
