Selection and protection of a motor
4
PARAMETERS
4.8.2 Applied motor (Pr. 71)
The above parameters can be set when Pr. 160 User group read selection = "0". (Refer to page 156)
Refer to the following list and set this parameter according to the motor used.
â‹… The input specifications of the PTC thermistor
are shown on the right.
Motor Temperature PTC Thermistor Resistance Value (Ω)
Normal 0 to 500
Boundary 500 to 4k
Overheat 4k or higher
CAUTION
â‹…
When the PTC signal was not assigned to
Pr. 184
and the AU/PTC switchover switch was set to the PTC terminal function, the function
assigned to the AU terminal is always off. Reversely, when the PTC signal was assigned to
Pr. 184
and the AU/PTC switchover switch was
set to the AU terminal function, a PTC thermal error (E.PTC) occurs since the function is always in a motor overheat state.
â‹… When you want to input a current, assign the AU signal to the other signal.
â‹… When terminal assignment is changed, the other functions may be affected. Please make setting after confirming the function of the AU
terminal.
♦ Parameters referred to ♦
Pr. 71 Applied motor Refer to page 97
Pr. 72 PWM frequency selection Refer to page 142
Pr. 178 to Pr. 189 (Input terminal function selection) Refer to page 101

Specifications of the AU terminal Refer to page 26
Setting of the used motor selects the thermal characteristic appropriate for the motor.
Setting is necessary when using a constant-torque motor. Thermal characteristic of the electronic thermal relay
function suitable for the motor is set.

REMARKS
â‹… For the 5.5K and 7.5K, the Pr. 0 Torque boost and Pr. 12 DC injection brake operation voltage settings are automatically changed
according to the Pr. 71 setting as follows.
CAUTION
Set this parameter correctly according to the motor used.
Incorrect setting may cause the motor to overheat and burn.
