OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

LASH ADJUSTER INSTALLATION
Caution

If the lash adjuster is re-used, clean the lash
adjuster. (Refer to 11A-8-10.)
(1) Fit the lash adjuster onto the cylinder head using care
not to allow diesel fuel to spill out.

CAMSHAFT INSTALLATION
(1) Apply engine oil to the camshaft journals and cam before
installing the camshaft. Use care not to confuse the intake
camshaft with the exhaust camshaft.
NOTE
The rear end of the intake camshaft is provided with
a 4 mm-wide slit.

BEARING CAP INSTALLATION
(1) Locate the camshaft dowel pins as illustrated.
(2) Apply sealant to t h e locations shown in the illustration.
Specified sealant:
3M ATD Part No. 8660 or equivalent
