3-12 Starting the Programming Console
If the NS-series PT and CS/CJ-series PLC, are connected using a serial port, the
Programming Console function can be used on the Ladder Monitor without connecting a
Programming Console. (This function is not supported for CJ2 CPU Units.) All functions
except saving the ladder program to a cassette tape and restoring it can be executed.
Note
When using the Programming Console functions, carefully check that the system is
safe before performing the following actions.
- Changing monitored data
- Changing the operating mode
- Force setting/resetting bits
- Changing set values/present values
If unspecified persons may start the Ladder Monitor, use a password to prevent
incorrect operation. Refer to 3-14 Using a Password for details on the password
function.
Confirm system safety before turning the power ON/OFF or resetting. Otherwise, the
system may operate unpredictably.
Note
The Programming Console function cannot be used when the PT is connected to a
CJ/CJ-series PLC using an Ethernet or Controller Link Board.
The CJ2 CPU Units do not support a Programming Console. The Programming
Console function cannot be used when connected to a CJ2 CPU Unit.
3-12-1 Ports That Support the Programming Console Function
To use the Programming Console function, the PT must be connected to a CS/CJ-series
PLC through either a peripheral port or RS-232C port on the CPU Unit of the PLC. If the
PT is connected to a CS/CJ-series PLC using a Serial Communications Board, a
Communications Unit, Ethernet, or Controller Link, the Programming Console function
will not operate. Only the Ladder Monitor functions can be used when connecting through
a Serial Communications Board or Communications Unit.
