The gauge indicat es t he approxi mate
quantit y of fuel remaining in the tank
when the engine switch is on.
It is a good idea to keep the tank ov er
1/4 full.
If the fuel level approac hes “E”, fi ll the
fuel tank as s oon as possibl e.
On inc lines or cur ves, due to the move-
ment of f uel in the tank, the fuel gauge
needle may fluc tuate.

Overheating
The gauge indicates the engine coolant
temperat ure when the engine switch is
on. The engine operati ng t emperatur e
will vary w ith changes in weat her and
engine load.
If the needle points to the red zone or
higher, stop your vehic le and al low the
engine to cool.
Your vehi cle may overheat during sever e
operati ng conditions , suc h as:
D Driving up a long hi ll on a hot day.
D Reducing s peed or stopping after high
speed driv ing.
D Idling for a l ong peri od with the c ooler
on in stop−and−go tr affic .
D Towingatrailer.

z Do not remove the t hermostat i n
the engine cooling system as thi s
may cause the engine to over heat.
The ther mostat is desi gned t o con-
trol the f low of cool ant to keep t he
temperatur e of the engi ne within
the specified oper ating range.
z Do not conti nue dri ving wi th an
overheated engine. See “If your ve-
hicle overheat s” in Section 4.
