Drive gently and avoid high speeds.

for t he f irs t 1000 k m (600 mi les) can add
to the f uture economy and long lif e of
your vehi cle:
D Avoid full thr ottle acc elerat ion when
star ting and driv ing.
D Avoid rac ing the engine.
D Tr y to av oid hard stops duri ng the fir st
300 km (200 miles) .
D Do not dr ive slowl y wi th t he manual
trans miss ion in a hi gh gear.
D Do not driv e for a long ti me at any
singl e speed, either fas t or slow.
D Do not tow a trai ler during t he f irst 800
km (500 miles).

er fuels is not c overed under Toy ota’s new
vehic le warrant y.
NOTICE
z Do not use improper fuels. If im-
proper fuel s are used, the engine
will be damaged.
z Do not use a f uel that contai ns
more than 50 ppm of sulphur. Use
of such a high sulphur fuel may
damage the engine.
z FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) fuel
sold under names such as “B30” or
“B100” and fuel containing a large
amount of FAME should not be
used. Your vehicl e can use di esel
mixed wi th 5% max biodiesel FA ME
(B5). The use of fuel w ith more
than 5% FAME cont ent ( B5) wil l
damage t he vehicle’s fuel system.
You must ensure that ref ueling is
carri ed out only from a source
where fuel specif ication and quality
can be guaranteed. In case of any
doubt, ask your Toyota dealer.
FUEL TYPE
Use only diesel fuel that contains 50
ppm or less of sulphur.
If you plan to drive in f oreign countries ,
low sul phur dies el fuel may not be av ail-
able, so please confirm the availability
with your dis tri butor.
CETANE NUMBER
Select cetane number 50 (cetane i ndex
45) or higher.
Use of fuel with a c etane number lower
than stat ed wil l cause per sis tent heavy
knock ing. If sever e, this will lead to en-
gine damage.
If your engine knocks...
If y ou detect heavy knoc king even when
using the rec ommended fuel, or if you
hear st eady knoc king while hol ding a
steady speed on level r oads, consul t your
Toyot a dealer.
However, occ asionall y, you may notic e
light k nock ing for a short t ime whi le acc el-
erating or driving up hills. This is normal
and there is no need for concer n.
