When encount ering flooded roads

NOTICE
Drivi ng on a flooded road may cause
the engine t o st all as well as cause
serious vehicle malfunctions such as
shorts in electri cal components and
engine damage fr om water immer sion.
In the event that you drive on a
flooded r oad and t he vehicle is
flooded, be sure t o have your Toyota
dealer check br ake f unction, changes
in quantity and quality of oil and fluid
used for t he engine, transmi ssion, dif-
ferent ial, etc. and lubricant condit ion
for t he propeller shaft, beari ngs and
suspension join ts (where possi ble)
and the funct ion of al l joint s and
bearings, etc.
Make sure your coolant is proper ly pr o-
tected against f reezing.

based non−silicate, non−amine, non−nitri te,
and non−bor ate c oolant with long−life
hybri d organic acid tec hnology. ( Coolant

“Toy ota Super Long Life Cool ant” is a mi x-
ture of 50% coolant and 50% deionized
water. Thi s c oolant pr ovides protec tion
down to about −35_C(−31_F).
NOTICE
Do not use pl ain water alone.
Check the condition of the battery and
cables.
Cold t emperatures reduc e the capaci ty of
any batt ery, so it mus t be in top shape
to prov ide enough power for winter s tart-
ing. Section 7−3 t ells you how to visuall y
inspec t the battery. Your Toy ota dealer
and most serv ice stations will be pleas ed
to check t he level of char ge.
Make sure the engine oil viscosit y i s
suitabl e for the cold weather.
See Sect ion 7−2 for r ecommended vis cos-
ity. Leaving a heavy s ummer oil in your
vehic le during wint er months may cause
harder star ting. If you are not sur e about
which oil to use, c all your Toyota deal-
er—they will be pleased to help.
Keep the door locks from freez ing.
Squirt lock de−icer or gly cer ine i nto the
lock s t o keep them fr om fr eezing. To open
a frozen loc k, try heat ing t he k ey before
inserting it.
Use a washer fluid containi ng an anti-
freez e solution.
This pr oduct i s av ailabl e at y our Toyota

much to mix with water.
