Be careful when accelerati ng, up-
shifti ng, downshi fting or braki ng on
a slipper y surface. Sudden accelera-
tion or engine braking could cause
the vehicle to skid or spin.
D Do not cont inue nor mal drivi ng
when the brakes ar e wet. If they ar e
wet, your vehicle wi ll r equire a lon-
ger stoppi ng dist ance, and i t may
pull to one side when the brakes
are appli ed. Also, the parking brake
will not hold the vehicle securely.
NOTICE
z Do not depress the acceler ator and
brake pedals at the same time dur-
ing drivi ng. I f t he br ake pedal is
depressed whil e drivi ng w ith the ac-
celerat or pedal depr essed, dri ving
torque may be restrained.
z Do not use the accelerat or pedal or
depress the accel erator and brake
pedals at the same time to hold the
vehicle on a hill.
Drivi ng on a sli ppery road surface
Driv e careful ly when it i s raini ng, bec ause
visibility will be reduced, the w indows may
become foggedup, and the r oad wil l be
sli ppery.
D Drive car efully when it st arts to rain,
because the road s urfac e will be es pe-
cial ly sl ippery.
D Refrain from high s peeds when dr ivi ng
on an expr essw ay in t he r ain, bec ause
there m ay be a l ayer of water bet ween
the ti res and the r oad surf ace,
prevent ing the st eering and br akes
from operati ng proper ly.
CAUTION
D Sudden braking, accel erati on and
steeri ng when dri ving on a slippery
road sur face may cause tir e sl ip-
page and reduce your ability to
control the vehicle, resulting in an
accident.
D Sudden changes in engi ne speed,
such as sudden engine braking,
may cause t he vehicl e to skid, r e-
sulti ng in an acci dent.
D Aft er drivi ng t hrough a puddle,
light ly depress the brake pedal to
make sur e t hat the brakes are f unc-
tioni ng pr operly. Wet br ake pads
may prevent the brakes fr om func-
tioni ng proper ly. If the br akes on
only one side are wet and not func-
tioni ng pr operly, steer ing contr ol
may be aff ected, r esulting in an ac-
cident.
