12.22 Removing the air filter
Note
Engine failure Unfiltered intake air has a negative effect on the service life of the engine.
– Never operate the vehicle without an air filter as dust and dirt will enter the engine and lead to increased wear.
Warning
Environmental hazard Hazardous substances cause environmental damage.
– Oil, grease, filters, fuel, cleaners, brake fluid, etc., should be disposed of as stipulated in applicable regulations.
Preparatory work
– Remove the air filter box lid. ( p. 50)

Main work

Push air filter holder
toward the air filter at position
and detach it at
end
. Swing the air filter holder to one side and remove the air filter with the air
filter support.
– Remove the air filter from the air filter support.

– Mount the clean air filter on the air filter support.

Grease the air filter in area

– Insert both parts together, position them, and fasten them using air filter

If the air filter is not correctly mounted, dust and dirt can enter the engine

Do not clean the air filter with fuel or petroleum since these substances attack the foam.
