11. Install the PCI riser-card assemblies and all adapters (see “Installing a PCI
riser-card assembly” on page 189).
12. Install the cover (see “Installing the cover” on page 178).
13. Push the power supplies back into the server.
14. Slide the server into the rack.
15. Reconnect the external cables; then, reconnect the power cords and turn on
the peripheral devices and the server.
Important: Perform the following updates:
v Start the Setup utility and reset the configuration.
– Set the system date and time.
– Set the power-on password.
– Reconfigure the server.
See “Using the Setup utility” on page 255 for details.
v Either update the server with the latest RAID firmware or restore the pre-existing
firmware from a diskette or CD image (see “Updating the firmware” on page
253).
v Update the UUID (see “Updating the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID)” on page
271).
v Update the DMI/SMBIOS (see “Updating the DMI/SMBIOS data” on page 274 ).
Important: Some cluster solutions require specific code levels or coordinated code
updates. If the device is part of a cluster solution, verify that the latest level of code
is supported for the cluster solution before you update the code.
Removing the 240 VA safety cover
To remove the 240 VA safety cover, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 169.
2. Turn off the server, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
3. Pull the server out of the rack.
4. Remove the server cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 177).
5. Remove the SAS riser card assembly (see “Removing the SAS riser-card and
controller assembly” on page 197).
