Setting the CPU Threshold Notification Types and Values
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to set the CPU threshold notification types and
values:
Setting the Agent Contact and Location Information
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to set the system contact and location of the
SNMP agent so that these descriptions can be accessed through the configuration file:
Command Purpose
Step 1
configure terminal Enter global configuration mode.
Step 2
process cpu threshold type {total |
process | interrupt} rising
percentage interval seconds [falling
fall-percentage interval seconds]
Set the CPU threshold notification types and values:
• total—set the notification type to total CPU utilization.
• process—set the notification type to CPU process utilization.
• interrupt—set the notification type to CPU interrupt utilization.
• rising percentage—the percentage (1 to 100) of CPU resources that,
when exceeded for the configured interval, sends a CPU threshold
notification.
• interval seconds—the duration of the CPU threshold violation in
seconds (5 to 86400) that, when met, sends a CPU threshold
notification.
• falling fall-percentage—the percentage (1 to 100) of CPU resources
that, when usage falls below this level for the configured interval, sends
a CPU threshold notification.
This value must be equal to or less than the rising percentage value. If
not specified, the falling fall-percentage value is the same as the rising
percentage value.
Step 3
end Return to privileged EXEC mode.
Step 4
show running-config Verify your entries.
Step 5
copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
Command Purpose
Step 1
configure terminal Enter global configuration mode.
Step 2
snmp-server contact text Set the system contact string.
For example:
snmp-server contact Dial System Operator at beeper 21555.
Step 3
snmp-server location text Set the system location string.
For example:
snmp-server location Building 3/Room 222
Step 4
end Return to privileged EXEC mode.
