SECURITY FEATURES
Types of Security
Security features protect your computer and the information stored
on it from unauthorized access.
â– The power-on password prevents unauthorized use of the
computer when it is turned on, restarted, or resumed from
Suspend or Hibernation.
â– The administrator password (Windows 2000 Professional
only) protects your BIOS from unauthorized access.
â– The setup password prevents unauthorized users from
changing your computer’s configuration through Computer
Setup. The setup password may also be used by network
administrators to protect and access the configuration of
multiple computers in a network.
â– Quick Controls clear the screen and disable the keyboard and
other input devices while the computer is running.
â– DriveLock security prevents unauthorized use of the hard
drive even if the drive is removed from your computer and
booted in a different computer.
â– Login Password (Windows NT 4.0 Only) is used to log into
Windows NT 4.0. When combined with the previously
mentioned security features, prevents unauthorized users from
accessing your hard drive.
â– Computer Setup allows you to disable devices and prevent
unauthorized use of specific computer components.
â– The cable lock provision allows you to attach the computer to
an immovable object to prevent unauthorized removal of the
computer.
â– The hard drive compartment cover provides a security screw
to prevent unauthorized access to the internal hard drive.
