Preparing to Call Technical Support
If you cannot solve a problem using the troubleshooting chapter,
you may need to call technical support. To receive the fastest
possible solution when you call, follow the instructions in Chapter
15 to run the Compaq diagnostics utilities. Have the following
available when you call:
â– The computer
â– Serial number on the bottom of the computer
â– Purchase date on invoice
â– Conditions under which the problem occurred
â– Error messages that occurred
â– Hardware configuration
â– Type of printer connected
â– Hardware and software you are using
â– Product identification number (PIN), which you entered when
you set up the computer. (Click StartÃ…SettingsÃ…Control
PanelÃ…SystemÃ…General tab. Your PIN number is below your
name.)
â– Print or Save configuration and diagnostic information. To
obtain, print, or save configuration and diagnostic information,
refer to Chapter 15.
NOTE: If you take your computer to a Compaq authorized reseller,
dealer, or service provider for service, remember to provide the
power-on and setup passwords, if they are set.
