Measuring Crankshaft and
Camshaft Sprocket Runout
Tools Required
• J 8001 Dial Indicator
1. Use the J 8001 in order to measure the crankshaft
and camshaft sprocket runout. Refer to Engine
Mechanical Specifications.
2. If the sprocket runout exceeds specifications, clean
and remove any burrs from the shaft or replace the
sprocket.
Measuring Timing Sprocket
Teeth Backlash
Tools Required
• J 8001 Dial Indicator
1. Use the J 8001 in order to measure the backlash
between the timing sprocket teeth.
2. Refer to Engine Mechanical Specifications.
