5 Functional Description
The LMI 02 instrument includes all the functions required for the measurement and control
of conductivity. The connection of a suitable metering pump turns the LMI 02 into an
autonomously functioning metering system.
Two modes of operation are available on the LMI02 instrument in the CONFIGURATION
FUNCTIONS menu.
AS mode Make up mode (factory setting)
CIP mode Phase separation mode
5.1 The measurement principle
The LMI 02 instrument operates according to the inductive measurement principle without
electrodes.
Liquids with dissolved substances show an electrical conductivity in dependence of their
dissociation level. The specific conductivity "χ" is expressed in mS/cm and is characteristic
for the respective substance. By measuring the conductivity of a chemical solution its
concentration can be determined.
