from the area, and stay clear
of moving parts during this

Be sure that the water is flowing
out of the drain port.

Turn on the fresh water supply,
and verify that there is good water
pressure at the outboard motor.
Insert the water hose joint into the
plug hole and connect the hose
from a fresh water faucet to the
hose joint.
Remove the engine cover.
Wash the outside of the outboard
motor with clean, fresh water.
Disconnect the fuel line from the
outboard motor.
Tilt down the outboard motor.
After each use in salt water or dirty
water, thoroughly clean and flush the
outboard motor with fresh water.
Tilt up the outboard motor and
move the tilt lever to the LOCK
position.
After flushing, remove the water
hose joint, reinstall the engine
cover.
Flush the engine with fresh water
for at least 10 minutes.
