Fuel Tank and Vent Knob
STARTING THE ENGINE7.
OOPPEENN
FUEL FILLER CAP VENT KNOB
The fuel tank must be in a well-
ventilated area to reduce the
chance of a gasoline vapor explosion.
Avoid direct sunlight on the fuel tank.
Due to the fuel pump capacity, do
not place the fuel tank more than 2
meters (6.6 feet) away from the
outboard motor or lower than 1 meter
(3.3 feet) below the outboard motor
end fuel hose connector.
The fuel tank must be properly
secured in the boat. This will protect
the fuel tank from mechanical
damage caused by the fuel tank
shifting.
Remove the fuel filler cap and
inspect the condition of the fuel
filler cap and gasket. Replace the
fuel filler cap or gasket if they are
cracked, damaged or leak fuel.
Turn the fuel filler cap vent knob
counterclockwise all the way to
open the vent.
Allow the air pressure inside the
fuel tank to equalize with the
outside air. With the vent open, air
can enter the fuel tank to displace
the fuel as the fuel level goes
down.
