FOC converter (Part No. 784763 / 784764)
The FOC converter is used to convert electrical into optical signals for reliable data communication under
difficult conditions e.g. where conventional copper cables are not suitable. Mixed operation of fibre optical and
conventional wiring within a common network is possible. The mixed operation of Fibre optics cable (FOC) and
conventional copper cables within a common network is possible. For networking Fire Alarm Control Panels via
fibre optic cables, at least one FOC converter and an essernet
®
micro module from hardware revision E are
required. Depending on the optical cable type, the distance between two FACPs may be up to 3000 m. The
FOC converter is available with type F-ST (Part No. 784763) or type F-SMA (Part No. 784764) optical
connectors.
Installation
The FOC converter must be mounted inside the FACP housing or in the same control cabinet. It is mounted
directly on a standard 35 mm top hat rail (C mounting) (Part No. 788602 / 788652).
Requirements / limitations
two multi-mode fibres are required per network section
the fibres must be connected directly to each other (not via a multiplexer)
