CAUTION:
• Device reboot might result in interruption of ongoing services. Use these commands with caution.
• Before rebooting the device, use the save command to save the current configurations. For more
information about the save command, see the
Fundamentals Command Reference .
• Before rebooting the device, use the display startup and display boot-loader commands (see the
Fundamentals Command Reference ).
• The precision of the rebooting timer is 1 minute. One minute before the rebooting time, the device
prompts "REBOOT IN ONE MINUTE" and reboots in one minute.
• When you execute the reboot command on the master of an IRF virtual device, if you specify the slot
keyword, the member device with the specified number reboots. If you do not specify the slot keyword,
all member devices of the IRF virtual device reboot.
• If a main boot file fails or does not exist, the device cannot be rebooted with the reboot command. In this
case, re-specify a main boot file to reboot the device, or power off the device, and then power it on. The
system automatically uses the backup boot file to restart the device.
• If you are performing file operations when the device will be rebooted, the system does not execute the
command for the sake of security.
Configuring scheduled tasks
What is a scheduled task
A scheduled task defines a command or a group of commands and when such commands are to be
executed. It allows a device to execute specified commands at a time when no person is available to
maintain the device.
With a scheduled task configured, the device checks the configured task list every minute. If the device
detects that the time to execute a command is reached, it automatically executes the command.
