8.35Checking free play of hand brake lever
Warning
Danger of accidentsBrake system failure.
If there is no free travel on the hand brake lever, pressure builds up on the front brake in the brake system. The front brake
can fail due to overheating. Adjust free travel on hand brake lever according to specifications.

Pull the hand brake lever and check the free travel .
Free play of hand brake lever 3 mm ( 0.12 in)
» If the free travel does not meet specifications:
Adjust the free travel of the handbrake lever. ( P. 42)

Adjust the free travel of the handbrake lever with the adjustment screw .
Info
Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to reduce free travel. The pressure
point moves away from the handlebar.
Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise to increase free travel. The
pressure point moves towards the handlebar.
The range of adjustment is limited.
Turn the adjusting screw by hand only, and do not apply any force.
Do not make any adjustments while riding!
Check the free play of the hand brake lever. ( P. 42)
8.37Checking front brake fluid level
Warning
Danger of accidentsBrake system failure.
If the brake fluid level falls below the MIN mark, this indicates a leakage in the brake system or worn-out brake linings.
Have the brake system checked in an authorized KTM workshop, and do not ride any further.
Warning
Danger of accidentsReduced braking due to old brake fluid.
Have the front and rear brake fluid replaced according to the service plan in an authorized KTM workshop.

Move the brake fluid reservoir mounted on the handlebar to a horizontal position.
Check the brake fluid level in the viewer .
» If the brake fluid level is below the MIN mark:
Top up the brake fluid of the front brake. ( P. 43)
