panel.

in approximately one quart
of
coolant
from the cooling system.
2. Remove the two cap

rews securing the
thermostat housing to the cylinder head.
Account for an 0 -ring and a thermostat.

cracked, or damaged

any way,
replacement is necessary.
1.
In
spect the thermostat for corrosion, wear,
or spring damage.
2.
Using the following procedure, inspect
the thermostat
for
proper operation.
A. Suspend the thermostat
in
a
co
ntainer
filled with water.
B.
Heat
the water and monitor the
temperature w
it
h a thermometer,
C. The thermostat should start to open at
80-
84
oc
(176-
183 °F), fully open at
95
oc
(203 °
F).
D.
lf
the thennostat does not open, it must
be replaced.
3. Inspect
all
cool
ant
hoses, connections,
and clamps for deterioration, cracks and
wear.

All coolant hoses and clamps should
be

replaced every four years or
