ThereferenceusedforCourse-Updependsupontheinformation
availableatagiventime.Thesystemalwaysprioritizesthis
informationinthefollowingorder:
1.Bearingfromorigintodestination,thatis,intendedcourse.
2.LockedheadingfromanAutopilot.
3.Bearingtowaypoint.
4.Instantaneousheading(whencourse-upisselected).
Note:Ifheadingdatabecomesunavailablewhilstinthis
mode,awarningmessagewillbeshown,thestatusbar
indicatestheCourseUpinbracketsandtheradaruses
headinginrelativemotion.Whenheadingdatabecomes
availableoncemore,Course-Upmodeisreinstated.
Selectingtheradarorientationmode
Fromtheradarapplication:
1.SelectMenu.
2.SelectPresentation.
3.SelectOrientation&MotionMode.
4.SelectOrientation.
5.Selecttherequiredorientation.
Radarmotionmodesoverview
Themotionmodecontrolstherelationshipbetweentheradar
andyourvessel.Therearetwomodes:
Relativemotion.
Truemotion.
Theselectedmotionmodeisdisplayedinthestatusbar.The
defaultsettingisRelativeMotionwithzerooffset.
RelativeMotion(RM)withoptionalVesselOffset
WhenthemotionmodeissettoRelative,thepositionofyour
vesselisxedonthescreenandallthetargetsmoverelative
tothevessel.Youcanspecifywhetherthevesselisxedinthe
centerofthewindow(0offset)oroffsetby1/3or2/3toincrease
theviewahead,asshownbelow:

Thedefaultmotionmodeis“Relative”,withzerooffset.
TrueMotion(TM)
WhenthemotionmodeissettoTrue,xedradartargets
maintainaconstantpositionandmovingvessels(includingyour
vessel)travelintrueperspectivetoeachotherandtoxed
landmassesonthescreen.Asthevessel’spositionapproaches
theedgeofthescreen,theradarpictureisautomaticallyresetto
revealtheareaahead.
Note:Ifheadingandpositiondatabecomeunavailablewhen
Truemotionisselected,awarningmessagewillbeshown,
themodewillreverttorelativemotionandbenotedinthe
statusbarinbrackets,forexample,(TM).
Note:ItisnotpossibletoselectTrueMotionwhenthe
orientationissettoHeadUp.
