Auto Options
As mentioned before, pressing AUTO at the front panel can enable the waveform
automatic setting function. The oscilloscope will automatically adjust the vertical
scale, horizontal time base and trigger mode according to the input signal to realize
optimum waveform display. The oscilloscope allows users to set the related
parameters of the waveform auto setting function.
Press Utility  Auto Options to enter the auto options setting menu. You can set
the following parameters.
 Press Lock to lock AUTO. At this point, this key is disabled.
Note: You can only unlock the key through the remote command
(:SYSTem:AUToscale 1). For the remote command, please refer to
MSO1000Z/DS1000Z Programming Guide .
 Pres Pk.Pk to enable or disable the peak-peak priority function. When “ON” is
selected, the peak-peak value is displayed on the screen with the best scale. For
signals with offset, this function is more practical for observing signal variations.
 Press CH to select the channel to use the AUTO operation. You can select
“OPENed” (the channel turned on currently) or “ALL”. The default is “ALL”.
Note: If no channel is turned on currently, the instrument will execute the AUTO
operation for all channels.
 Press Menu Hold to enable or disable the menu hold function. When “ON” is
selected, the screen does not display the menus as shown in
Figure 6-2 (namely
the instrument holds the current menus) after the AUTO operation is successful.
 Press Overlay to enable or disable the overlay display function. When “ON” is
selected and signals are input through multiple channels, the signals of multiple
channels are overlayed on the screen. Each channel can occupy 8 grids of
vertical range; amplitude resolution is small and the trigger is more stable.
When “OFF” is selected, the signals of multiple channels are displayed on the
screen respectively. Each channel can only copy about 2 grids of vertical range;
amplitude resolution is large and the trigger is instable.
 Press Coupling to enable or disable the coupling hold function. When “ON” is
selected, the channel coupling settings of the signal detected will be held.If the
channel is set to DC coupling, the instrument keeps the DC coupling after the
signal is detected; if the channel is set to AC coupling, the instrument keeps the
AC coupling after the signal is detected; if the channel is set to GND, DC
coupling is used by default. When “OFF” is selected, DC coupling is used by
default after the signal is detected.
Key Lock
Press Utility  KeyLock  Lock to lock all softkeys and buttons of the
oscilloscope except the Unlock softkey. Press Unlock to unlock these keys.
