15 SIMOVIS
The software tool SIMOVIS V5.x is available for starting up, parameterizing and diagnosing the
SIMOREG 6RA70 using a PC.
15.1 Scope of supply
SIMOVIS can be ordered under the order no. 6RX1700-0AD64.
The SIMOVIS tool can also be ordered as an option with short code D64 together with a 6RA70
converter unit.
15.2 Installation of software
The software is supplied on CD together with the operating instructions in Word 97 format.
A brief overview of the CD contents can be found in file START.HTM. If you have installed an HTML
Browser on your PC, you can start the overview by double clicking on START-HTM. Otherwise you
can find information in text format in the README.TXT file.
After selection of the desired language, the SIMOVIS installation is called via the links SIMOVIS
V5.x - Install SIMOVIS - Start Installation.
For safety reasons, older Internet browsers are not in a position to start programs. In this case a
"Setup.exe - Save as" dialog is displayed after Start Installation.
In this case, you can start the Setup program manually in subcatalog:
SIMOVIS\setup.exe
Then following the instructions displayed by the installation program.
SIMOVIS is installed as standard in subcatalog C:\SIEMENS\SIMOVIS . An icon "SIMOVIS(USS)"
for starting the program is displayed on the desktop.
15.3 Connection of SIMOREG converter to PC
The simplest link is made by connecting connector X300 on the front of the SIMOREG converter
with a COM port of the PC using a cable that can be ordered under order no. 6SX7005-0AB00.
