4.8 Installing SINAMICS components
4.8.1 Releasing with a screwdriver
The new protective covers for the DC link on the SINAMICS S120 components feature a new
interlock mechanism, which is really easy to operate using a slot-head screwdriver (1 x 5.5).

To open the protective cover, use the
screwdriver to turn the interlock screw a
little, in the direction of the arrow (coun‐
ter-clockwise)

To lock, press the protective cover back on until you hear the interlock engage.
4.8.2 Protective conductor connection and shield contact
Shield contact and productive conductor connection
It is always advisable to use shielded wiring for the digital inputs and outputs.
NOTICE
Incorrect machine operation as a result of incorrect shielding or inadmissible cable lengths
If the described shielding procedures and the specified cable lengths are not observed, the
machine may not operate properly.
